YOU CAN BELIEVE!!!!!!
1. SHOWERS/LAUNDRY ARE HERE!!!!
Yes we are now able to provide showers and some laundry facilities for our homeless population two days a week. If we can pay the water bill, we might be able to extend it more days if the need arises. This is the way it will work.
A. United Outreach is providing the facility.
B. Only Kindness is providing the transportation to and from the facility. There will be no showers for those who walk in. All will need to be picked-up at pick-up locations. Only 6 at a time, for now.
C. Job’s Shelters of the Sierra (JSS) will coordinate the operation of the facility.
D. Good Ladies of Federated Church will provide sandwiches while showers are taken.
This operation will begin April 9.
Other organizations were asked to participate, but declined. You are welcome to join in on this, as a driver, shower/laundry monitor, librarian of our library, computer instructor, board game coordinator, or general “Handy Person.”
Transportation: Dana LaForce at DanaLaForce@wildblue.net
Operations: Ron Sachs at Ronald.Sachs@yahoo.com
Food Service: Mrs. Art Edwards at Art.Edwards@sbcglobal.net
2. U.S. CENSUS WAS TAKEN ON THE HOMELESS.
They gathered at Perks Court and dispersed to Pioneer Bible Church, Lumsden Park, Hangtown Motel, Upper-room, behind K-Mart, behind WalMart, in the bushes, manzaneta, along the tracks up to Camino, and wherever we could find homeless persons to give them toilet paper, socks, water and a bunch of other stuff. I’m sorry to say we are sure we missed a few, but we did much better then the County Census last year. And the enumerators were not deterred by rain, wind, snow, and long hours in the rough.
3. CHURCH OF THE FOOTHILLS YOUTH.
The youth gathered 31 fabric carrying bags containing 2 rolls of toilet paper; 2 pr. White cotton socks; 2 Health food bars; 2 Bottles of water; 2 ea 2″ Candles; and a small “treat.” These were used as incentives to gather the homeless in the park to be counted by the Census enumerators.. God Bless you guys!!!!!!!
4. AND THE BIGGEST THANKS AND BLESSINGS GOES TO ……….
Foothills United Methodist Church and Coldsprings Community Church for opening their doors to the homeless on Tuesday and Wednesday nights giving a warm, dry, place to sleep and congregate. A very special thanks to the two organizers, Frank Gates and Mike Parr. You guys did GREAT!
Now let us all work together to provide for the “least of these our brethren.”
