Nomatic Winter Shelter

In Seven Days, Just Seven days.

In seven days we begin the Nomadic Shelter to provide a warm and dry place for our brethren to sleep during the winter months.. I am reminded of what is said in the Christian Bible, Matthew 25:40 &45. “what you do/or don’t do for the least of these our brothers, you do to Me.” The following is a report from Michael Parr of F.A.I.T.H. a partner with JSS in providing for those who can’t provide for themselves.

Hi everyone,

It is time to sign up to volunteer at the 2010 – 2001 Nomadic Winter Homeless Shelter nights at Foothills United Methodist Church. ( FUMC).

FUMC will be providing space for the shelter on Wednesday and Saturday nights from mid-November 2010 through the end of March 2011.

(Other shelter nights provided by Cold Springs Community Church (CSCC) and Green Valley Community Church (GVCC) with Federated Church hosting a night at CSCC). We have 5 nights covered this year. A great improvement over last years 2 nights.

Ronald Sachs of FUMC and Jobs Shelters of the Sierra ( JSS) has stepped up and is coordinating Wednesday nights.

The first night is November 17th.

Rolling Hills Church volunteers will help and host this night at FUMC.

Ron has arranged for Wed night/Thursday morning food service.

However, others are invited to participate and work together with RHC volunteers to make this successful.

The more volunteers we have the better.

If you are interested in volunteering on Wednesday nights reply to all on this email and Ron and I will get it.

We really need you help. Kirk Ortiz @ 530-295-7486 from RHC and myself are coordinating this effort on Wednesday night. If we can get many volunteers, each volunteer only needs to serve one or two nights a month.

Michael Parr is coordinating Saturday nights.

The first Saturday night is on November 20th.

Times may change a little. His e-mail address is …………..MoonCalf62@earthlink.net

I am anticipating that we will have a special need on the following nights:

Wednesday, November 24th, night before Thanksgiving

Saturday, November 27th of Thanksgiving weekend

Saturday, December 25th, Christmas night

Saturday, January 1, 2011, New Year’s Day night

Wednesday, March 9, 2011, Ash Wednesday

If you are willing and able to help on these nights or provide any special events for Christmas, New Year’s Night or any other special occasion, please contact Ron or I.
