Homeless Issue #88

“Tis the Season”

At the big ballgame, Chris, Mose, and Mo are there in the stands. They don’t agree on many things and tolerate each other most of the time. And as many thousands of others in the stands, they each have the rule book of the game. Oh, some of them can quote verbatim the very words of the rule book. Some even know the precise day that the rule book was written and when, where, and how the hero/teacher originated. They can tell you precisely the date and time of action of the game. All say they read the rule book, but I doubt it. Yes, some really did read that rule book from cover to cover. But they are all in the stands shouting and jumping around, being seen and making noise, lot and lots of noise….

Down on the field, another Chris and friends are busy participating in so many little ways to follow the rule books. They run with the little bottles of “sport drink” and water to every place it is needed. They put a blanket or coat on the shoulders of the very cold sitting awaiting their turn. They run after the balls as the ball leaves the playing fields.  They know the rule book and follow it. They operate the little vehicle that transports those who were hurt or hurting.  All are very important to what is happening on the field of play. That group observes and is always looking to understand the players on the field, lending advice, pointing out advantages and signs of danger. This group is making a difference. They read the rule books and follow the books directions.

Are you, your neighbor, just in the stands making noise? Or are you down on the playing field making a difference?      Ron Sachs

God bless Cold Springs Community Church. They are hosting three (3) nights at their facility. One night is being hosted by their congregation, one night with outside volunteers, and one night with a group of all homeless persons who are in the “Christ Like Services” program. All these persons are fully involved down on the playing field of life.
 ………………………………………………….

We now have all 7 nights of the week covered, providing shelter, food, companionship, and much love to our brothers and sisters who have the very least. About 27-35 persons per night have been given what we have to offer so far this year. Rain, sleet, temperature, snow, and any mix thereof, make the numbers fluctuate.

Please keep up your support with donations of warm clothing, socks and toilet paper and financial assistance, deduct them from your tax bill, and fill your heart with joy for providing help to our citizens who have the very least. For donations to JSS, “501 (C) (3)” tax receipt will be provided if you ask for one.
